Angelena Kuhn
MScOT Reg(NS)
I have spent several years as an occupational therapist helping others identify what they needed to function and thrive. Then I became a mother, and I found I struggled to maintain my sense of self within this new role while also navigating challenges like c-section recovery, brain fog, sleep deprivation, feeding challenges, and physical injuries. I remember telling friends in the months that followed, “I am a different person now”, and looking back, I see how true that statement was.
I co-founded New Moon Occupational Therapy to support new mothers through the profound identity shift of matrescence and help them find their footing in this new version of themselves.
I earned my Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Dalhousie University in 2019 and have worked across a variety of settings, including inpatient geriatrics, burns and polytrauma, outpatient burn care and hand therapy, and community care. Coming from a background in textile art, I bring an eclectic mix of skills and experience to my practice; one that shows up as creative, out-of-the-box thinking and problem-solving.
My clinical experience across a range of settings has given me an appreciation for the barriers people face when daily life is disrupted and the body feels unfamiliar. That experience shapes everything about how I work with new mothers. Postpartum is its own kind of disruption: physical, emotional, and irrevocable. I understand what it takes to rebuild function in real life, not just in a clinic, and I bring that perspective to every client I see.
Grounded in an empathic, client-centered approach, I am dedicated to supporting you in building confidence, independence, and meaningful participation in daily life, whatever phase of life you may be in.
